I have recently started focusing on collecting postcard related postcards. I already had several in my collection, mainly from postcard fairs that I have attended or other odd promotional cards that I have picked up over the years. This example is a recent purchase, as this was several years before I started becoming a serious collector.

I chose this particular example because it is now forty years old, although if I had been paying attention I would posted this last month on the anniversary date, let’s see if I can do better next year. For those unfamiliar with the name BIPEX it stood for the British International Postcard Exhibition, which as the back of the card says was “Britain’s Premier Postcard Fair“.

Coincidentally, some 33 years later I found myself working up in London, about five minutes walk away from Kensington Town Hall. It would have been so tempting to take an extended lunch break or hang around for a couple of hours after work and lose myself amongst the postcards.
